I was running windows classic shell on a Samsung windows 8.0 computer with no issues until I Service packed to 8.1 after that was never able to get classic shell working again. I ended up with a classic shell start button that if i clicked it no menus should appear. A dead button.

I tried to uninstall service pack 8.1 but was not successful, anyhow with classic shell trouble shooting I tryed reinstalling repairing, and periodically updating as new versions were released nothing ever helped.

Anyhow i installed the Windows 10 upgrade just to get a start icon back, however my real hope was that the classic shell would work with the new OS. Anyhow I have the same problem with Windows 10. I have the classic shell start button in place but if i click it nothing happens. I tried uninstall and a repair etc.. just as i have before.

Any advice to offer.
I wanted to mention if anyone one wanted to remote in through show my PC and take a look them selves i am open to that.

Thanks
Bruce

Right click the Start button and click Settings. Classic Start Menu settings should open. There, check "Show all settings" at the top and go to the Controls tab. Make sure the settings for "Left click opens" and "Windows key opens" are set to "Classic Start Menu".

If you right click on the Start button and don't get a "Settings" item, it may be possible that Classic Start Menu is not loading correctly at startup. Since you have already tried Repair install, you can instead download the Classic Shell Utility from here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/3uker ... tility.exe and use it to remove all traces of Classic Shell. This will cleanup anything that may be wrong with its installation.

Then you can download the latest version from: http://classicshell.net/downloads/latest

Try the above steps and let me know if it works.
