Hello everyone,

Please excuse me if this has been covered previously and point me to the thread if that is the case.

My question is the following:
I have a Windows 2012 R2 Remote Desktop Server running classic shell with mandatory profiles and redirected folders. Every time a user logs in there is approximately a 20-30 second delay while classic shell "Generates Shortcuts"

On test servers where there are no mandatory profiles with redirected folders there is no such delay.

I was wondering if there is a setting to disable start menu enumeration at login or group policy that is applicable to the situation. Barring that, would creating local copies of the redirected folders in the profile so that the system finds them there in the event it cannot comprehend the redirection have any effect?

Your input is appreciated.

The recent/frequent programs list and the highlight for newly installed programs require the contents of the entire start menu to be scanned before the menu can be displayed.
Try turning them off.

BTW, there is no such thing as "Generate Shortcuts" in the start menu. Maybe your problem is related to some other tool?

Thank you for the response. I do not have the correct wording for "Generating Shortcuts" I believe is the scanning for the start menu contents. I will disable the setting and see if that will work.

Again, I appreciate your time and would like to thank you for this software.
