Win 8.1 Pro x64 (clean reinstall in Dec), Classic Shell 4.1.0. As I recall, Classic's Start button used to require the mouse cursor to drift pretty much into the lower left desktop corner to bring up Windows tiled desktop. However, I've noticed in the last two or three months that it's become extremely sensitive. That is, if my mouse gets barely past the edge into (over) the icon moving from right to left, unless I'm very quick to click it pops up the tiled desktop. Otherwise, I have to be very careful to get it at the very right edge. Is that intended or has something changed - or is there a setting I'm missing? Thanks,

The change you are noticing is not intended. you can disable the option completely in the classic shell settings (on the windows 8.1 tab, under advanced settings) this will prevent metro from opening when you move to the far left corner. then you would only open the tiled UI with a shift+click of the start button

You probably don't have the hot corners disabled correctly. Open Start Menu Settings. Go to the Windows 8.1 Settings tab and set disable the active corners setting to All.

Also on the Controls tab, left click should be set to open Classic Start Menu.

In terms of the left corner, I don't see any difference in the three possibilities. If I move the mouse over the Start (Aero) button without clicking, the Metro screen comes up no matter which I choose. The only difference I see is what happens in the right corner.

Check the Controls tab for what "Hover" is set to and what "Left click opens" is set to.

Ok, didn't know about that hover setting. That's been the problem here, not the other stuff. Thanks, GauravK.
