Hi,

Windows 7, Classic Shell 3.6.8

In the Windows Start Menu Properties window, I have cleared the 'Store and Display Recently Opened Programs in the Start Menu' and the 'Store and Display Recently Opened items in the Start Menu and the taskbar'.

However, I still get items appearing in the Recent Items list when I don't want them.

Does Classic Shell have a setting for this please, or is it just Windows functionality?

Thanks,

The recent list in the start menu is not controlled by the OS setting. There is a setting somewhere in Classic Shell to turn it off, however since it is such an old version I don't remember the exact name. Let me know if you can't find it and then I'll take a closer look.

Hi,

Thanks for your offer.

I did find the Recent Documents option in the Special Items tab. I presume it's that one but it's greyed out. Hovering over it, the message box says 'This setting has been locked by a group policy'.

Any idea which one please?

Thanks,

Hi,

As you say I have an old version, if I upgrade to the latest version, should I keep or lose all my settings? I use Classic Shell Start Menu and Explorer,

Thanks,

No, you need a setting "Show recent programs". It should be near the bottom of the Special Items tab.
The Recent Documents is grayed out because you have disabled the recent documents tracking from the OS settings.

Yes, the settings will be preserved if you upgrade.
