The Hibernate button puts to Sleep, not hibernate.
The Sleep button acts like Sleep should
Edit for Hibernate button shows command is hibernate
Edit for Sleep button shows sleep.

When I click hibernate, the screen goes off, but when mouse is touched the screen immediately comes back on - just like in sleep mode.

Using classic shell ver 4.1.0.
Using Windows version 6.01.7601 64-bit

Does it take the same amount of time to go to sleep and to wake up in both cases?
It is just possible that the system really hibernates but accepts the wake events from the mouse.

Thanks for your comment.
It takes the same amount of time to load each. And, it does not go thru the prgm load sequence normal with a start-up when reloading the system out of hibernate.

What happens if you hibernate from the normal Windows shutdown menu?

I removed Classic Shell and found that Win7's hibernate function IS NOT going through the normal shut down process by saving the workspace, it just goes to sleep. Then I discovered that my copy of Win7 [Ver.6.1.7601] has a Hybrid sleep mode, and not a true hibernate mode. So now I have to check and see if bios has been changed, or if win7 is corrupted. At this point it does not appear to be a CS issue, as CS should only be following what is set up in win7 control panel, where you can only adjust hybrid sleep, from which hibernate gets its directions. Even with CS removed from system I see no change in the hybrid sleep cmd's.
I will keep you posted.

I think that is how Windows Vista/7/8 behave when hybrid sleep is enabled? Try disabling hybrid sleep and then hibernate should power off your PC, sleep will act like sleep.
