I am using the "classic with 2-column" layout with Windows 7 and the custom icon I gave to the all programs folder that shows at the bottom of the main window does not show up. When I right click on the folder icon and look at the properties, the new folder icon does appear. But it won't appear in the start menu. What am I doing wrong? How do I fix this?

And thank you for making this fine software! It has made the transition from XP to 7 a lot less painful.

Right click the Start button -> Settings. Check "Show all settings" and go to the Customize Start Menu tab. In the left column, locate Programs and double click it. Change the icon and click OK everything to save settings.

Thanks for the quick reply. That did the trick!

And thanks again for making such a great piece of software. The downside of moving from XP to Windows 7 was losing that key menu functionality to navigate quickly to programs. But the upside is that thanks to Classic Shell, that functionality was not only restored but I have a start menu that looks a million times better than it ever did before. And it doesn't consume a lot of resources to run either.

You can also customize the folder icon by changing the colors of the icon itself. How so? by following these simple suggestions. I hope it hope it helps you navigate through your files much more easily.
