1. To find your version of Classic Shell, open Classic Start Menu settings by right clicking the Start button -> Settings. If you do not have the Start Menu installed, open Classic Explorer settings. In the title bar of the Settings window, the version will be shown.
2. Classic Shell does not automatically download updates, it only automatically checks for updates and notifies you if one is available so you can download it. Also, the Taskbar is not part of Classic Shell. To fix your three rows of separators, right click an empty area of the Taskbar and choose "Lock the Taskbar".
3. Classic Shell will not update on its own automatically, only check and notify you. To prevent it from even checking for updates, open "Classic Shell Update" from the Start Menu -> All Programs -> Classic Shell program folder or by searching for it. In the "Classic Shell Update" window, uncheck the option "Automatically check for new versions".
