Is there a command to access the hideous Metro UI/start screen? I unpinned the shortcut from my Classic Shell start menu, and now I've just realized that I don't know how to access the Great Screen o' Charms. Please do not tell me to turn those hot corners back on! There must be another way... Isn't there??

To tell you the truth, I don't have any reason to go there except to delete useless apps, since I'm also unable to figure out a more direct way to remove those. That whole glommed-on layer of this operating system remains shrouded in obscurity.

TIA.

You can press Shift+Win key to go back to the Start screen. You can also Shift+click on the Start button to go back to the Start screen. This is configurable from Start Menu settings -> Controls tab.

If you deleted the shortcut to go to Metro, you can pin it back again from the 'Main Menu' tab of Settings -> 'Show Start screen shortcut'.

Thank you very much, GauravK. Wow, how on earth did I not see the "Show Start screen shortcut" option in Settings? It's in *bold*!! I swear I went through all those Settings -- not just once, but several times -- and yet I missed the guy in bold. That's a little scary. I'm going to blame it on Windows 8.1 Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. ;-) Thanks again!
