Windows 8.1 wishes to put a critical update into my computer KB2919355 done so on starting my computer the desktop start screen is flashing on and off, seems to want to leave the classic and go to W8 style. So have recovered prior to this update and uninstalled Classic Shell and I had expected to get W8 start back but haven't. Still got Classic, when I click "Start button" it gives me the W8 screen. Question how do I get my computer to start in W8 screen as it did at first? Seems like maybe Classic Shell is not uninstalled fully. Thanks David

Classic Shell is only a Start Menu+Explorer enhancements. It is not the Desktop.
You can uninstall Classic Shell from Control Panel -> Programs and Features. Even if you keep it installed before you install Update 1, it will continue to work.
To make the Start screen appear when your PC starts, right click the Taskbar -> Properties -> Navigation tab -> uncheck the option "When I sign in or close all apps on a screen, go to the desktop instead of Start"

I am a Windows enthusiast and helped a little with Classic Shell's testing and usability/UX feedback.

Thanks for the advise flashing between the screens too quick to do the check of that setting. Have taken the Windows Update off, had to do that using my recovery disc to get Restore Points as PC unusable.
Now taken it up with Microsoft as I see another person as same problem after the updating.
Thanks David
