I have installed classic shell 4.0.6 onto windows 8.1. However, when I re-start my pc, I still see the original windows 8 tile screen. I have to look in apps & pin the classic shell icon to get the XP classic screen. Is this right? Is it possible to start my pc with the classic XP screen?

Some instructions say refer to ALT+V & click on options in the toolbar. In the windows8 tile screen, I selected ALT+V to get the toolbar, but there are no options.

Right click the Taskbar -> Properties -> Navigation tab. Check the option "When I sign in or close all apps on a screen, go to the desktop instead of Start". Now try restarting and see if Classic Shell's Start button automatically loads at the bottom.

I followed you instructions & it works!! Yipeeeee. Many thanks for your patience with a not-very-clever-with-windows8 type.
