Wait for it to be officially available so the Classic Shell team can test it and fix whatever breaks.

With the Win 8.1 Update 1 coming out very soon, has Classic Shell 4.0.4 been tested on Win 8.1 Update 1? If so, do we need to do anything? |

 I'll be sooooo happy to get my Shell Start button back. The Windows 8.1 update replaced it with a button that take me back to the Windows Charms menu.

Lynda, mine doesn't do that - you probably can overcome this - I just don't know what you need to do. Hopefully someone in here can advise you. |

Well my only issue is that the taskbar fails to appear in Windows Store apps when the area is hovered upon (Win+T works though) the second time onwards. Seems to be a problem with disable all hotcorners setting. On the other hand it affects Start8 as well lol. EVerything else worked great with 8.1.1 |

FYI... 8.1 update 1 has been officially released on Technet and MSDN. |

EVerything else worked great with 8.1.1 Did more checking and it seems to be a bug with 8.1.1 when the taskbar is at the top of the screen  Nothing wrong with classic shell.
