Post subject:  Start menu background colour

Hi,

Some time ago, I asked in a post on here how to change the background colour in the Start menu when hovering over an item to Dark Blue, like you got in classic Windows 2000 and the Classic theme in XP. I was told to edit the ClassicSkin.skin file and change the following values:

Main_selection=#0B0B61
Main_text_color=#000000,#FFFFFF,#7F7F7F,#7F7F7F

Submenu_text_color=#000000,#FFFFFF,#7F7F7F,#7F7F7F
Submenu_selection=#0B0B61

I've done this and most of the items are Dark Blue when hovering over them but a couple are Light Blue, as shown in the attached file, namely Shut Down and WinZip (not shown).

Does anyone know why I get different behaviour for the Shut Down and WinZip menus?

Can it be corrected?

Thanks,

The Shutdown button or items such as WinZip with a jumplist (which show recent documents in a flyout submenu) are split button items. Split buttons were added with Classic Shell 3.6.0. For them, you will have to change Main_split_selection, Main2_split_selection, Submenu_split_selection and List_split_selection. If you are using the Classic skin, a simpler way to do this instead of modifying the skin is go to Start Menu Settings -> Skin tab and check the option "Solid color selection". The color is the system selection color.

Hi,

Thanks, setting the Solid Colour Selection worked perfectly
