I'm setting up my mum's new Windows 8 Laptop and trying to remove everything Windows 8 about it with Classic Shell. I've noticed that Firefox and Internet Explorer have an arrow next to them when pinned to the Start Menu that brings up previously searched pages and the like, how do I disable this and just have it as a menu icon to be clicked?

Unsure if this is something new in Classic Shell or a Windows 8 thing.

That is called a jump list. Jumplists were introduced in Windows 7's Start Menu but they can be disabled in Classic Shell. Right click the Start button -> Settings. In the search box type: jumplist and uncheck the option "Enable jumplists". This will disable them for the Start Menu. If you want to disable them for the Taskbar as well, right click an empty area of the Taskbar -> Properties -> Jump Lists tab. Uncheck Store and display recently opened items in Jump Lists.
