Post subject:  How is "Skip Metro Screen" implemented?

Hi.

I need to be able to skip Metro Start Screen in Windows 8 and go directly to desktop once I'm logged in. The problem is, I can't use Classic Shell for that purpose even though it works fine. Without going into details, Classic Shell offers many additional features which I don't need. All I want is "Skip Metro Screen" part of it. Can you tell me how this functionality works in Classic Start Menu or even provide me with appropriate fragments of code? I'd be really grateful.

Regards

Peter

First, almost all features of Classic Shell can be turned off, although I agree, for the only purpose of logging into desktop it is going to be an overkill
Second, I'm sure there are other tools that provide that functionality. The name "Skip Metro Suite" comes to mind
And lastly, the source code for Classic Shell is available on Sourceforge: https://sourceforge.net/projects/classi ... 20release/ It is not the latest version but for your needs should be enough

Thanks for a quick reply and the code (I'll try to analyze it), but could you describe the basic logic behind "Skip Metro Screen" anyway?
How does it work? Is it complex? Which functions are responsible for it? If I know it beforehand it'll be a lot easier for me to understand the code
(I'll know which parts to focus on) and perhaps recreate the functionality in my own program.

Regards

Peter

Before you go forward with attempting to code your own solution, does skip metro suite work for your needs?:

It uses a different method to skip to the desktop, and it is far more targeted than classic shell.
