Hi Guys;

After the 4.0.2 update this AM, I went to sort my Start menu, and it went to reverse order, and the menu item to sort will no longer function. I checked the Start menu tab, and the reverse sort order is unchecked. I've re-booted several times, but the sort menu function on the start button context menu still does not function. I'm still stuck in reverse.

Got any ideas?

Thanks;

Sarris

Edit: Did a repair install. No change. Also of note, the reverse sort order in the Start menu tab is in bold, although the box is not checked.

Edit #2: Restored menu settings from the XML backup, and now the sort function seems to work. I don't have a clue as to what happened, but you might want to take a look.

Thanks again;

Sarris

Right click on any of the menu items which you cannot sort and check if "Auto Arrange" is enabled and uncheck it. Then you will be able to do a "Sort by name" or manual sort.

@ GauravK, that's the strange part. It was the Main Start menu, auto arrange was not checked, nor was sort in reverse order on the Start Menu tab.

As I said above, the reverse sort order in the Start menu tab was in bold, although the box is not checked.

Anyway, the restore settings corrected my issue. So this was more of an FYI for you.

Thanks for all the hard work.

Sarris

Well since it was bold, it means you must have checked the setting at least once and then unchecked it later. While it was checked, if you had done a 'Sort by name' then even after unchecking it, the menu would remain in Z-A order unless sorted by name again. That is normal.
