As i don't plan to update from Windows 8.0 to 8.1 since there is no Start Menu. Is there a setting in Classic Start to bypass the lock screen & logon screen? So that when turning on the computer go straight to desktop without having to see the lock screen, click it, see the logon screen and sign in user name and password to get to desktop which thanks to Classic Start Metro start screen is bypassed . Thanks for any info. ff |

Use Group Policy to disable the Lock screen. Open Gpedit.msc, go to Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Control Panel -> Personalization -> Do not display the lock screen. To "disable" the logon screen, you need to logon automatically. Type: control userpasswords2 into the Start Menu's Search box or the Run dialog and press Enter. In the User Accounts control panel, select the user account with which you want to always logon automatically and then uncheck "User must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Type and confirm the password and click OK twice. Now your system should boot straight to the desktop without showing a lockscreen or logon screen. |

It would be nice if all the following complicated procedures were a couple of checkboxes in Classic Start settings :^) Use Group Policy to disable the Lock screen. Type and confirm the password and click OK twice. Now your system should boot straight to the desktop without showing a lockscreen or logon screen. Thanks for the info! ff |

No, Classic Shell does not incorporate tweaking Windows settings which can change in every new Windows release. It will not be a tool for tweaking Windows settings. |

There is a much simpler way to login automatically. Run a command window. Type: control userpasswords2 When the user accounts windows opens, uncheck the box for "users must enter a username and password to use this computer." |
