Classic Shell doesn't break Metro but I am not sure there is a way provided by MS to make the Start screen or Metro app open on a specific screen. In fact, when you use the Windows key, or Win+I, Win+C etc on the monitor which has the mouse pointer and focus, you will see that they're not multi-monitor friendly when using the keyboard, they appear on the monitor where the last Metro app or Start screen was open.
But yes I agree it's a good idea to enable hot corners when Shift or some key is held down.
