At first it was the shut down button and when I clicked it a menu would pop up but there was also the arrow to the right to pop out a little menu with all the usual choices. Now I forget how but I changed it to just be a button but that button also brings up that shut down menu. I just want the button to shut down my computer please. I don't use sleep, hibernate, etc etc, I only either have my computer on or off. I'm using windows 8 and I'm GLAD it didn't come with a start menu because besides this one little problem this start menu is better in every way shape and form than any other start menu in the universe.

If you are using the latest beta version 3.9.0, then it depends on the style you have chosen.
For Windows 7 style go to the Main Menu tab, locate the "Shutdown command" setting, change it to Shutdown.
For classic styles go to the Customize Start Menu tab, locate the ShutdownBoxItem, double-click, and change the command from shutdown_box to shutdown.

THANK YOU! I forgot I occasionally "restart" too and I even found the option for that. Now I have both a dedicated shutdown and restart button, and my start menu couldn't possibly get any more perfect.
