It use to look nice using Classic Shell Windows 7 style when installed and quite a while afterwards. Never changed any settings.

About a month ago changed to a boring hard to read grey background with black (light) text in all panels except if "all programs" then programs on white background rest grey.

In the glass or override glass changing any settings, color or the other 2 makes no difference in the hard to read boring grey background.

Skins says no skin which I assume means none added to the one it comes with. Or, did it lose its originally installed default skin?

Am I blind or missing something obvious??

Thanks

You accidentally changed the skin to "No skin". Change it to Windows Aero from the Skins tab and click OK.

In the Skin tab in settings there is no skin available in the drop down other than no skin.

"About this skin" says (the No Skin) is the default skin. Also tried to "reset skin" does nothing.

The only Aero setting is in the Menu tab

In the Menu Look tab, I have Windows Aero checked.

I have also tried unchecking and keeping it checked and changing the colors in the override settings but nothing changes, still get the hard to read grey background.

If its not just me screwed up, may have to try to uninstall and reinstall... hate that Metro stuff.

Am using version 4.0.4 with Win8.1 64 bit

Do you see any files in the Program Files\Classic Shell\Skins folder? There should be about 10 files there. If not, then you may have deleted them accidentally. Run the installer again and choose the Repair option.
