Windows 8.1 operating system. Installed the latest version of Classic Shell Start Menu but it does not always auto start on boot up. I have checked the msconfig file to ensure it is set to start and added .exe file to the start up folder. What I have noticed is there is no entry in the Services menu.
Also, I have noticed that the Shell button sometimes reverts back to the standard Windows menu in which case I have to click anywhere in the bottom task bar to re-instate it.
Does anyone else have this behaviour and know of a solution?

Check if C:\Program Files\Classic Shell\ClassicStartMenu.exe is set to run as administrator from the EXE's Properties -> Compatibility tab. That might be preventing it from loading at startup.

If it is not set to run as admin then download the Classic Shell Utility (http://www.mediafire.com/download/3uker ... tility.exe), which will collect information about your system that can assist in troubleshooting problems. When you run the tool it will ask you to save a text file with the information. Save the file and attach it in this forum post.

From the log, it shows that C:\Program Files\Classic Shell\ClassicStartMenu.exe is set to run as administrator. Open that EXE's Properties -> Compatibility tab and remove the "Run as administrator" checkbox. Then it will start correctly at startup.

I have made the change but same problem persists. Any further suggestions? I have attached the log following the changes to take out run as administrator.

Looks like you have another start menu program installed - "Start Menu 8". Having multiple start menus is not supported as they may interfere with each other. Uninstall one of them.

Thanks - I had not realised I had Windows Start 8 installed. Now removed it and behaviour is correct. The Classic Shell start menu is vastly improved from the default one. Good job done. Thanks again.
