Evo,
I like the new shutdown area where it will reflect whether updates are available.
However this seems inconsistent as on many test machines the this will show the "Update and" when there are no updates showing from Windows update. This is also true after updates have been applied and the system restarted; the "Update and" text still shows.
This is on 8.1 x64 on several different hardware models.

I have not done much testing on 8.1. It is very possible the APIs changed in an incompatible way.
The Update will show not only when there are updates pending, but also when a restart is required.
