Edit: This beta build link is now obsolete. A newer beta can be downloaded from: http://www.classicshell.net/downloads/latestbeta

Hey, everyone. There is a new build of version 3.9.0 available for download in the same place: http://www.classicshell.net/files/beta/ ... _3_9_0.exe

It contains a number of bugfixes, some improvements to the search feature and a more complete list of apps in the Apps menu.

If you installed the old build of version 3.9.0 you will have to uninstall it manually before running this one. All your settings will be preserved.

Why didn't you call the new version 3.9.1?

I don't want to run out of versions. 3.9.1 will be the public beta. For now the versions will stay 3.9.0.

Just installed this new build. Runs fine under Win8 and Win8.1. Thanks once more. I'll spread the word wherever and whenever I can.

Note that this is still a beta. As such the link should not be leaked publicly until Ivo feels it's reached a public beta stage.

isnt posting the link directly on the forums an uncontrolled way to prevent such a thing? IE cant anyone see that link or do they atleast need to be registered? or is there a special usergroup for people who have been given access?

The Classic Shell 4.0 Beta section of the forum is only for certain people given permission to access it. They all seem to be respecting the code not to leak the link publicly. Because it's beta (although high quality). :)

I can't stop the build from leaking, but that would defeat the purpose of the beta. If somebody else uses the beta and has problems he won't be able to report them here because he won't have access to the beta forums. Such people will just be shooting themselves in the foot. I have no real problem with that.

Well, you can't actually "run out of versions", can you? Just insert another dot, and you will never run out :D
(for example, that version would be called "3.9.0.1" and so on...)

Doesn't work that way. The installer I use only supports 2 dots.

No, 3.9.01 is the same as 3.9.1. It is stored as a number, not as text.

That's what I had to do back in version 0.9.10, and I don't like it. It's ugly.
I believe asking a small group of people to uninstall manually is a small price to pay for not exposing a much larger group to an ugly version number.

ah wasn't really considering the aesthetics, since it was only for beta users anyways, though i guess when the public beta arrives it will have quite a bit more exposure, and appearance there matters considerably more.

But yea it really doesn't that much on our ends :P

By the way, the final screen of the installer has a link in it in which the word "Classic" is misspelled.-Noel

you might be interested in
QTTabs bar: http://qttabbar.wikidot.com/

and/or

Clover: http://ejie.me/clover-3-beta-released/

I personally use both together, because QT offers quite a few other features that i like, and clover offers more aesthetic tabs..
