Why can't you switch between the different styles of menus and keep all the same entries? For example, I set up the Windows 7 menu with all my programs and categories but if I change it to Classic I lose most of what I setup in Windows 7. IMO the entries should be retained no matter what menu type I choose. I can't see people having 3 different setups for the three menu types as it relates to what's on the menus.

Also, why can't Classic use the new drag and drop feature of adding programs, as Windows 7 does, instead of the old way?

That is because the Windows 7 style allows limited customization and the Classic style allows far more flexible customization so the same setup cannot be maintained across the styles. The Windows 7 style doesn't support custom subitems at all, whereas Classic style does. In Classic style, custom items can also be in the left column of the main menu; in Windows 7 style, they can't be.

If you want the same folder structure across the three styles, you can use the file system to organize shortcuts into folders and categories as you want and add that folder as a link.

Which new drag and drop feature of adding programs you mean that isn't possible in Classic style?

I can drag and drop to the left column, but the right column can only be done within CSM.

I am sorry I am not following you. :) Can you illustrate with a screenshot or elaborate from where you are dragging what and to which place in the menu? And in which style? :)

I am saying that the 'Customize Start Menu' using a W7 style menu is different then the one used for the Classic style menu. Why can't there be just one with the best of both worlds?

Oh you mean in the Settings window. That is for the same reason mentioned above. :) Classic style is more powerful. Windows 7 style has limited customizability but easier to use than Classic for users who have difficulty understanding the more powerful Classic style's Customize tab, or who're content with the simpler customization of Windows 7 style.
