I did a quick test on Windows 8 (on a testsystem that happened to have UAC turned off). I uninstalled the previous version, rebooted, then installed the beta. After another reboot I got this message: "UAC has to be turned on to run the Desktop app". (Took about 5 "OK" clicks to get to the UAC screen).

Is this new in version 4? I don't remember ever seeing this before (even though I don't usually do this kind of manual install, only silent (/qn) installs.

Is it possible to use the new version with UAC off? (Might be useful sometimes), or is there a switch I missed? (If so, sorry for bothering you).

Thanks.

I use it with UAC/LUA off.

However, I just unpacked the exe, dll and ini to a folder.

Works fine.

Looks like the beta doesn't work well with UAC completely disabled. This will be fixed in the next build. In the meantime you can temporarily disable the "skip metro screen" setting.

Thanks, usually thing like this are my own fault, but I'm glad that this time it was a somewhat useful comment.

On my test system UAC was turned off by this setting in autounattend.xml (I do all my OS installs with JFX's wonderful WinNTSetup):

<EnableLUA>false</EnableLUA>

Thank you very much for your replies!
