Hello, I've tried the Classic Shell 3.9.0 beta on Windows 8. I upgraded from 3.6.8 and installation went smoothly. But my Start menu is now darker color than the taskbar. Can you reduce the color to match the taskbar color? What happened to the Metro skin? I kind of miss that. Also, my Apps folder has disappeared. In my earlier Start menu, the Apps folder was there in the left column above Programs; now it has gone inside the Programs folder. How can I bring it outside of the Programs folder again?

Try different skins and settings. They all have different shades of the taskbar color. To see Apps in the main menu either select a classic style or enable it in the right column from the Customize Start Menu tab.

Thank you. I did not notice it can be enabled in the right column. Why isn't it enabled by default? I like the Windows 8 skin the best but the Start menu looks a bit brighter than the taskbar color. What about the Metro skin, is it discontinued?

Because it is already inside All Programs. Apps are kind of like programs. So they are inside. Yes, Metro is gone. It is replaced by the new Windows 8 skin.

You can copy the Metro skin from an older version and it will work, although newer features like highlighting etc won't work. Update: In Classic Shell 4.2.x, there is now a new Metro skin that properly follows the Start screen/Metro color!
