Make search function awesome by adding persistent search paths.
For example: Option to set search on C:, \\server\dir, desktop etc.
Ability to set default path and optional path.

The start menu only searches the files that have been indexed by Windows because they can be searched quickly. Searching other locations will be very slow and not well suited to the immediate nature of the start menu. You wouldn't want the start menu to be occupied for 10 minutes while it is crawling some remote server.

@winr, you can always add the paths to the Windows Search index, to a Library or define a short environment variable for a long, complex path.
