"Programs" entry could start right to the start button though, to avoid a mouse trip... The idea is to access anything in maximum 2 clicks... for mouse users the auto popup menus are best. This would be a good mix for tablet users. |

I believe the latest Start10 has a mode where the left side can be shown as multiple columns of icons, like in your second picture. |

Yep, I've seen some screens, could be better: http://oi59.tinypic.com/30mbuic.jpg Plus it looks like Start10 only works on windows 10.
