1. A way to change the orange color in the classic shell skin. The orange is kind of screaming right now.
2. A way to turn the feature off completely.

1. The orange is changed to peach (the same color that the Windows 7 Start Menu uses) in the next upcoming version. Also, using the free Resource Hacker, you can edit the skin yourself to change it to any less "screaming" shade. See this topic: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=982

2. You can already turn off the feature off completely. Open Classic Start Menu settings, type: highlight into the search box and uncheck 'Highlight newly installed programs'.
