Hello.
This is probably only the second or third time, I've ever asked for a new feature in Classsic Shell Menu.
I have just recently done a clean install of Windows 10, along with reinstalling all the apps, and programs.

When there are just a couple of new programs installed, it's ok to see the "high lighted new program". It's there for a reason.
Problem is when the whole start menu is full of them, it gets kind off distracting. I can turn off each one, or all, just want something less annoying.
On a couple of my last skins, I toned down the look of the new programs button, but find it still too much to look at.

Is there any way to have a different way to show a newly installed program/app, like MS has done with the word "New"?

Even just an N in a circle would be enough, at one of the ends of the button. I could do it myself in the bitmap, but would be more professional if it's real text.

Have other people asked for a different way?

I think the new Microsoft style is so subtle that when you do actually need a program to be highlighted, it fails to attract the user's notice unless you look carefully.

You can either turn off highlighting entirely or right click that program and select "Remove highlight".

From the Registry, you can change for how long programs are highlighted:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\IvoSoft\ClassicStartMenu\Settings.
The OldProgramsAge DWORD value in decimals controls it. It is expressed in number of hours. Change it to a lower decimal value like 2 or 3 so programs installed after 2 or 3 hours won't be considered new and won't be highlighted.
