Post subject:  Combined menu item for Control Panel and PC Settings  Topic is solved

Here is my suggestion: Make a combined menu item for Control Panel and PC Settings (calling it whatever you like), for both saving space and uniting what should actually already be united on OS-level.

I can think of at least two ways to implement that:

*) Normal "Click" opens Control Panel (or PC Settings), Right-Click offers the other one (or both).
*) Normal "Click" opens Control Panel (or PC Settings), Alt+Click (or Shift+Click or Ctrl+Click) opens the other one.

What do you think of that?

You can create a combined menu item yourself.

1. Open Classic Start Menu settings and go to the Customize Start Menu tab.
2. Double click the icon for "PC Settings".
3. Erase the "Command" field and type: ms-settings: (note the colon at the end)
4. In the "Link" field type: shell:ControlPanelFolder.
5. Give it the label and icon you want.

Click OK everywhere to save settings.

Now double click on it will open what you specified in the "Command" and it will still expand as a menu to show what you specified in the "Link" field. Also, you can right click and select Open to open the "Link" folder in Explorer (Control Panel in this case).

That sounds interesting, thank you!

However, there a two obstacles:

*) If I do it your way, i can't seem to get Control Panel to open in Category view, even I check the corresponding option in the Main Menu tab.
*) Also, I can't get it to work the other way round (i.e. open Control Panel by default and PC Settings by "right-click + open"), because the "Link" field is always greyed out. What would I have to type in the "Command" field to get it that way?

To open Control Panel in category view, use: shell:::{26EE0668-A00A-44D7-9371-BEB064C98683}

I don't think the PC Settings app can be launched as a Link. It needs an App ID or direct command. Plus if you don't use Control Panel in the Link field, you lose the benefits of the cascading/flyout Control Panel as a menu.

Thank you for your support! At least that works (kind of) as I meant.

It's too bad though that I can't get to Control Panel by default, and that there is no way to get to the desired place via some modifier key (ctrl/shift/win/alt+click) instead of right-clicking.
