Always loved the "Check for Windows updates on shutdown" feature of Classic Start Menu. It goes into full shutdown, instead of Windows 8/10 inexplicable default behaviour of ignoring the updates and forcing a restart at some random point later. My question/request: can CSM detect pending restarts (from new program installations, system setting changes etc.) and perform a full shutdown automatically in those cases too, instead of a hybrid one? |

That should already be the case. If you see the "pending updates" icon on the Shutdown button, then it will do a full shutdown. Is that not how it works for you? |

Thanks. Yes, that's the feature that is already there and working great. I am not talking about Windows Updates. Let's say I install a new program, and at the end of the installation it says a restart is required. But I won't restart, just continue working. There might be a 'flag' somewhere on Windows that tells there's a pending restart (I'm not sure how that works exactly), so CS could catch that and do the full shutdown, similar to the way it occurs with updates. When the PC is turned back on later, the "restart" will be complete. If a hybrid shutdown is performed, that program will not work correctly when the PC is turned on because there has been no "restart". |
