Hello there,

I am new to Windows 8.1 and I'm having a nightmare with the lack of features for fine tuning colour settings. I have dyslexia and on my Windows 7 laptop I was able to change the colour of the 'glass' so that, for instance, the page in Word was a light grey instead of the glaring white meaning I could cope with reading it. Similarly Excel, Chrome and so on had the grey making my life nice and easy.

I have posted on several forums about how to deal with this and it was suggested I downloaded this software which looks very good - getting back the Start menu is lovely, but are there any settings to be able to change the glass colour? I hope and assume that you know what I mean. I can post screenshots from my other laptop if that helps.

I await replies!

Thanks

Colin.

No, sorry, Classic Shell does not have any functionality to affect the look of arbitrary applications like Word: http://www.classicshell.net/faq/#general_whatnot

Hi,

It wasn't a setting in Word though that was changed, it was a setting in Windows itself, which changed the page colour in many applications through editing the colour settings for the frame, glass and so on. Does that explain it any more clearly?
Thanks

Colin.

The Aero color can still be changed in Windows 8 by right clicking an empty area of the desktop background -> Personalize. However if you are using Office 2013 (Word 2013) instead of Office 2010, the feature to change the theme color was removed in it.
