Would it be possible to consider individual settings for each corner and the top edge as separate check boxes in the "Windows 8(.1) Settings" tab? I like using the top left corner and the top edge but not the charms bar or the bottom left corner.

If not, there is always Skip Metro suite from Winaero.com

Thank you.

In Windows 8.1, there are built-in settings to turn off the top left and top right corners (there were in Windows 8 too via the registry but there was no UI for it). Also, there is an additional registry tweak you can do so the Charms don't get disabled but don't show unless you move the mouse down or up after going to the top right/bottom right hot corners respectively, that is, they don't show simply by moving the pointer to the corners:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ImmersiveShell\EdgeUI]
"DisableCharmsHint"=dword:00000001

Isn't that enough IMHO?

It is indeed enough, Classic Shell is in itself, more then enough.

I just figured I'd ask since there is no way within CS to only enable the top left and top edge and nothing else. I did know about the windows options for the top corners. I did not know about the registry tweak to disable charms hint, Thanks.

If they are already existing registry values, maybe I will try my hand at editing the source to implement it. I really don't know much in terms of coding but it's worth a shot.

I appreciate your quick reply.

Classic Shell does not depend on registry values to disable the corners because the reg values disable them inside Metro too. It disables them only on the desktop where they get in the way.

I see. I never really noticed that the other options disabled it for everything since I just stuck with CS. Good to know.
