Thank you for your program!

But there are still some useful things from the previous Windows interface that could be integrated.

Currently on Win 7 I have to run multiple resident programs (5 resident programs overall including the Classic Shell) so to emulate previous versions of Windows to a degree. I would like these features integrated.

1. Standard launch bar in Win98-WinXP style. It can be added manually to the task bar. This article describes the manual procedure: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows- ... windows-7/ It would be better to have a checkbox for it, which also would disable the Win 7-style launchbar. The launchbar should display the contents of %appdata%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch by default.

2. Remember positions of windows in Windows Explorer in Windows 7 (another removed feature). There is an utility that does it: http://www.sevenforums.com/free-develop ... -size.html

3. Ability to remove the "Show desktop" button from Windows 7. An utility that does it: http://www.door2windows.com/windows-7-s ... one-click/

4. Add connection tray icons in Win 95 - Win XP style that show data transmission. Some programs that partially restore the functionality: http://www.itsamples.com/network-activi ... cator.html http://www.bestfreewaredownload.com/fre ... znham.html I use the later. I want the connection to be indicated separately for each interface and use the icons already existing in standard Windows icon theme (rather than from Win XP)

5. Ability to remove the command bar. This page shows how to do this with Resource Hacker: http://www.askvg.com/how-to-make-folder ... ows-vista/

6. Ability to remove the address/broadcrumb bar from Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer!). Unfortunately I do not know how to do so under Windows 7. It was possible in Vista via Regedit, and also in Win 7 Beta, but by the release Microsoft decided to remove this possibility citing security considerations (without an address bar you may not know what page are you looking at). The address bar take much of vertical space.

7. Make your Start button when using the Win95-style menu be pushed when using the Windows Classic theme.

--------------

A have other more difficult to implement suggestions as well. I will create a separate post for them.

I have little interest in working on features that are already implemented. Particularly features that have nothing to do with the existing functionality. Where's the fun in that?

7 is already possible. You can choose to use the classic button in the Start Button tab, which will be properly pressed.

No. 7 is not implemented in any way and it is very annoying. Also most of the listed features implemented in different software which all needs to be running permanently and consume resources. Some of the solutions require efforts to implement and do not provide enough functionality.

Trust me, it is implemented. I know because it was me who implemented it. If you use Classic Shell's classic button you will see.

As for the other features, read here: http://www.classicshell.net/faq/#general_whatnot and here: http://www.classicshell.net/faq/#registry

Oh, that was a typo. I meant it was No. 6 which was not implemented.

He wants to hide the address bar completely, not just disable the breadcrumbs. I don't know of any hack that does this.

hiding the adress bar completely in windows 8 and windows 10 is a good idea maybe additional options to move it to the menu bar along with the small sized classicshell buttons which will look good especially after disabling the ribbon with tge noribbon on winaero.
