I can't upgrade from 3.3.6 to 3.3.8.

Post subject:  I can't upgrade from 3.3.6 to 3.3.8.
I tried to update my Classic Shell 3.3.6 to 3.3.8 and I cannot install the new version, I don't know how to fix this problem, I'm a computer novice.



I tried to re-install the old version 3.3.6 and it does not work !
I can't uninstall or upgrade to version 3.3.8 !
Very frustrating !

Please provide more information. "does not work!" is not enough information to troubleshoot the problem.

I get the same error message when trying to install either a the new version
or the same version...I don't remember the exact error message, but
it was something like the wrong path....

Missing MSI file. I'm not a computer programmer.
To correct this problem, is for advanced users.

Classic Shell is very buggy! :(

Again, please include the EXACT error message. When you go to the doctor, do you say "doc, something's wrong, fix me", or do you tell exactly where and how much it hurts?

The error message I get when trying to upgrade and install 3.3.8:

"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable".

"Click OK to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation
package 'classicShellSetup 64_3_6_5.msi in the box below.

Use source
C:\ProgramData\ (box that says "Browse")

OK, most likely you currently have version 3.6.5 and you have deleted the uninstaller for it (you shouldn't do that). That's why installing the newer version fails, because it tries to uninstall the previous one and is failing.
Download the installer for version 3.6.5 again from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/classic ... 20release/
Then run it, and choose the "Remove" option.
Then install the newer version.
