When selecting the 'Control Panel' from within the start menu, the contents of the window are always displayed in 'large icons' mode. When I choose 'category' mode, it resets this every time to 'large icons' mode after the window is closed and re-opened from the start menu.
When I access the Control Panel via the Computer icon on the desktop, then it's displayed in 'category' mode by standard and it remembers any alterations I make in the way the contents should be displayed (large icons, small icons or category mode).

Can this be fixed or is there a option for this (cannot find it).

Thx!

Right click the Start Button and open Settings. In Classic Start Menu settings -> All Settings -> Special Items tab, there is an option called "Use categories view for the Control Panel". Check that and click OK.

Okay, here's another way. To change Control Panel to always open in category view, go to the Customize Start Menu tab (first enable All Settings radio button in Classic Start Menu settings). Then locate ControlPanelItem in the left column, double click it and from the dropdown, change the Command field to control_panel_categories.
