This one office machine just upgraded itself to Windows 10 Anniversary Edition. The 4.3.0 installer can't find the 4.2.5 MSI file, and 4.2.5 won't even open. So right now I effectively have no Classic Shell. I tried to follow the uninstall troubleshooting steps linked in the other topic. It keeps telling me however, "Classic Shell doesn't work on this version of Windows" when I try to run the 4.2.5 version. No compatibility settings seem to let it run. : \ |

I´ve made some changes on 3.0 MSI version and finally I could change from ...64_4_2_5 to ...64_4_3_0. Start installing version ...64_4_3_0 and stop at the first window. Then go to c:\programdata and copy the file ClassicShellSetup64_4_3_0.msi to another place. Open it with "ORCA" (MSI Table Editor) and change the UPGRADE VALUE from 4_3_0 to 4_2_5. Then, execute the file. |
