Classic shell worked fine when I had it on windows 8. something then I went to 10 and uploaded classic shell again and it worked great there also. The problem is windows 10 was very slow and unreliable so I went back to the original program and the computer works great again. I did not have the shell icon so I went and downloaded it again try to run and I got this message "Click OK to Try again or enter and alternate path to a folder containing the installation package ClassicShellsetup64_4_0_4MSI". I searched the computer and I did not have a version over 4. something and one 3. something. So I went to the uninstall folder and tried to uninstall and got the same message when I tried to uninstall. I tried downloading a new version and get the same message after it tries to install. I looked at the other item regarding not being able to uninstall and followed the program that is supposed to clean up programs that did not uninstall properly and my computer said the program I was trying to down load had bugs so I did not get to try that program. I tried the unistall procedure in F.A.Q and get the same message. I want the shell because it works so well but I can't get anything to work please help.. TX

This happens because Windows does not handle everything correctly in the process of reverting back to the older version.

Download this installer and try to uninstall: http://www.mediafire.com/download/c0dys ... _4_0_4.exe

If that does not work, download the Classic Shell Utility to clean it up: http://www.mediafire.com/download/3uker ... tility.exe

Then you can install the latest version.

What is the corrupt warning you get?

I shut off more things but tried it with Chrome and it asked me if I wanted to run anyway. I said yes and ran both programs. It looks like they remove Classic shell, should I now try and reload the newest version?

Yes, if you successfully removed the old version of Classic Shell, then reboot once and install the latest.

Ivo: Cant thank you enough. I would tell anyone that is having the same problem to use Google Chrome, Chrome allows you to run the fix program you provided me even though it is saying it is corrupt. Explore will just block it from running and you do not have a work around.

Thank you
