Not sure why, but my explorer.exe is always crashing while I have Classic Shell open. Whenever I close it, it stops crashing. Is there any beta version I could try? I'm not sure if it's a program I have running in the background that may prevent it from working.

Use the "how to capture crash dumps" link above to capture a crash dump and attach it here.

Here is the crash dump

I used procdump -n 10 -s 1 explorer.exe

And this is the result:
[17:52:53] Timed: 1s (Trigger)
[17:52:53] Dump 1 initiated: C:\Users\Richard\Documents\ProcDump\explorer.exe_160201_175253.dmp
[17:52:55] Dump 1 complete: 2 MB written in 2.0 seconds
[17:52:56] Timed: 1s (Trigger)
[17:52:56] Dump 2 initiated: C:\Users\Richard\Documents\ProcDump\explorer.exe_160201_175256.dmp
[17:52:59] Dump 2 complete: 5 MB written in 3.0 seconds
[17:53:01] The process has exited.
[17:53:01] Dump count not reached.

That didn't work. You need to use the -e switch of procdump to capture the actual crash. The current dumps captured the state right before the crash and are not very useful.

When I try using "procdump -e explorer.exe"
I get this:
[22:39:55] The process has exited.
[22:39:55] Dump count not reached.

Is there anything else I could try?

That means some code is closing Explorer without an actual crash. Those are quite hard to debug with procdump.
You can try the "-e 1" switch.

When does Explorer crash? Do you perform a particular operation, like open the start menu?

BTW, it appears you have some shell extensions written in .Net. This is not supported and can lead to all sorts of weird behavior.

I tried to use "procdump -e 1 explorer.exe" but it still gives me

[15:36:25] The process has exited.
[15:36:25] Dump count not reached.

I'm going to try to do a full uninstall now and reinstall to see if it works.

How do I get rid of the shell extensions written in .Net? I'm not sure why I have those.

I also uploaded my system log, not sure if it would help in any way.

UPDATE: Reinstalling did not work. Explorer crashes regardless of what I do, it will crash, explorer will recover for a couple seconds, then crash again. It just does this on its own.

Does the other non-procdump method viewtopic.php?f=12&t=6#p9789 work to capture the crash at a time when Explorer crashes/restarts?

Anyway, you can use this tool: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html to see all installed shell extensions on your computer. Look in the "Company" column and one by one (not at the same time), try disabling the non-Microsoft shell extensions. One of them might be causing to Explorer shell to become unresponsive and restart.

The method to find crashes provided by Gaurav worked, I have uploaded the dumps, thanks for the reply! I did not use the ShellExView program yet though.

The crashes are related to a file named IDTNC64.cpl.
I believe it is related to the IDT audio driver. Try uninstalling it and see if that helps.

I'm actually not quite sure if I can uninstall the IDT audio driver, every time I do uninstall it, it installs again after the next bootup.
