I've checked the pre-load icons option but every once in a while it will still delay a bit when opening a menu for the first time (I've also checked the option to not open menu until icons are loaded as I hate seeing the blank icons, which is what happens in the same situation with that option unchecked). If it matters (though I can't see why it should), I have custom ico files assigned to every single shortcut in my start menu. These ico files are located on my system drive which is an SSD. You'd think they would all load into memory pretty quickly? Anyone else have this problem? Any possible solution or is it just plain and simply a bug? Just as I was about to post this I made a realization. The menus I'm using are in the second column of the classic 2-column version. And they are in the form of a "custom" command that links to a folder on my system drive. Inside this folder lies all the shortcuts and subfolders etc. Could this be why they are seemingly not pre-loaded? Because it's a custom folder and not the windows own "programs" folder? If so, any way I can make custom folders in the second column and still allow them to pre-load? And if not, any chance of changing how this works in the next version so that you can pre-load icons from custom folders? Many thanks in advance for your time! |

Only the icons for items from certain folders like Programs, Apps, Control Panel are cached. |

Would it be possible to change this in future versions? Also, could I get around the issue by simply putting my .ico files in the programs folder? (I don't use it anyway). |

No, this is not possible. For example if you pin your C drive, then every single file there has to be pre-loaded. That's millions of files. |
