Post subject: | Win 10 installation problem after uninstalling Classic Shell |
Immediately prior to the Win 10 installation (with the "clock" ticking down from 60 minutes) I decided - perhaps foolishly - that it would be a good idea to uninstall Classic Shell v4.1. The "clock" had gone down to 8 minutes by this time but after rebooting (as recommended by the Uninstall program) the Update notice had disappeared! When I go to the Win 10 Upgrade applet (bottom right of my toolbar) and click on "Upgrade available - OK let's continue" button it just shows "working on it" for 5 minutes or so before disappearing. I located the Win10 files in the "$Windows.~BT" directory and ran setup.exe but get a message informing that boot.wim cannot be found (Error code: 0x80070002). Any help would be welcome! |

This is an issue with Windows 10 Setup. Having Classic Shell installed or uninstalled is not related to Windows installation issues. Contact Microsoft support in their forum. |

Agreed, this is a Win10 problem. I just assumed that having uninstalled Classic Shell that some essential file(s) had been deleted from the system. I found a copy of boot.wim on another site and downloaded and added the file to the Win10 directory, but this fix just did not work for me. After making a few more tweaks the Win10 upgrade suddenly started to download from the start again - so after an hour or so I was able to start the upgrade process again. I still don't know how the upgrade suddenly started up again, but it seemed to confirm that my original problem had nothing to do with Classic Shell. Thanks, Bob |
