Settings/Search Box tab - unchecking "Search the Internet" does not work. Entered "finance" (name of file) opened browser to Yahoo Finance.
Should give only local search.

The start menu never searches the Internet.
What the option does is adds an extra menu item you can click on to launch an Internet search in your default browser.
If you enter "finance", press Enter, and browser opens, that means the start menu found some web shortcut on your local machine and executed it.

The description says "When this is checked, the start menu will have the option to search the Internet." To me, that would mean with it unchecked (my case) it would NOT have the option to search the Internet. Using the Windows 10 search, it found NO incidence of the word "finance" on the computer. There is no link to Yahoo Finance on the computer. The Classic Shell choice is misleading. With the "Search the Internet" box unchecked it should NOT search the Internet.

This is what checking "Search the internet" does (see the item just above the search box). If you uncheck the option, it does not show that item. It only controls that link in the Start Menu. The Start Menu is not built to actually search the internet. But if you use another method like opening some website/URL or shortcut to a website which may be added in the Start Menu by some program, your internet browser will open and you may be able to search the internet. :) It doesn't mean the Start Menu searched the internet.

I can tell you for a fact that Classic Shell has no ability to search Internet :)

If you are getting something in the search results, it must come from your local computer. When you type "finance", what kind of results are you getting? You can right-click on the result and select Explore to open that file in Explorer.
