If you TAB from the desktop to the start menu icon, then press SPACE or ENTER, instead of opening the classic shell menu, it opens the standard windows menu.

Tested using Classic Shell 4.2.1 on Windows 7 Professional 64bit.

Are you using the default Windows start button?

I have not replaced it with a custom icon, so I believe the answer is yes, I am using the default start button. The Classic Shell menu opens fine if I click the start button, just not when I use SPACE or ENTER.

Also if I SHIFT-Click the button, it opens the original menu (but I expected that).

Well yes and tabbing from the Desktop and then pressing the context menu key (or Shift+F10) also shows the context menu for the original Start button. How should it decide which menu to open using Space or Enter without introducing yet another setting? Follow the 'Windows Key opens' setting?
