Excuse me for my bad english )
Very often Classic start menu flickering (few times or infinite times) when left click on Start button.
I noticed that it happens when Microsoft Word 2013 is running (may be it's just a coincidence).
Classic start menu version: 4.1.0. Windows 8.1 Pro x64.
Here is some video:

Maybe something to do with a video driver or incompatibility with some other software. Go to the "Menu Look" tab in the settings and disable the menu animations.

Hi!

I have the same bug happen occasionally - a couple of times a day - on two very different PCs I use (version 4.1.0, both PC with Win 8.1 fully updated).
It is for sure not related to video drivers as the menu is not "flickering" as an image but actually opens and closes as if I was repeatedly clicking on the Start button. This is noticeable by the change of window focus - title bar of current window changes its color from active to inactive and back.

I don't know if it is related to any specific application or other circumstances, so far it seems very random.

Sorry for bumping the thread, but I think I found that in my case the cause of flickeing is a combination of auto-hiding the taskbar and running the Skype.
Conditions are:
- The task bar is hidden, Skype chat window is active in the foreground.
- I move the mouse cursor down to the bottom edge of the screen to make task bar appear.
- I click Start button.
- The menu starts flickering (i.e. appearing and disappearing) exactly as shown in the OP video until I manually change focus away from the Skype.

Happens on two PCs with Windows 8.1 and Skype for desktop version 6.21.
Can you please take a look at this issue?

Hi !
I had the same problem on Windows 8.1 64bit with Classic Shell 4.1.0.
I had found that flickering happens when taskbar autohide was on and previous active window was Google Chrome. When was auto hide off, there appears only single blink of Start menu.
It was when my version of Chrome was 40.xxx. Now I upgraded to 41.xxx and flickering disappears.
... some time later ...
Unfortunately impact of upgrading Chrome to newest version had only apparent effect - flickering resumed !
The same effect I noticed also with Google Hangouts "green spot" (running not minimized).

Which graphics you guys have? AMD, Intel or NVIDIA? I wonder if it is specific to a particular vendor. (You can check from Device Manager -> Display Adapters).

Hi,
my graphics is AMD Radeon HD 7570M.
Recently I found flickering (except previously said Google Chrome and Hangouts) also with Outlook 2013 on foreground.
Interesting is that for now flickering disappears. Maybe it is result of Windows update ...
