Hi,
Got a brand new Vostro 470 w/ i5-3450 CPU, Windows 8 Pro installed.
Installed the Classic Start Menu and Explorer upon which my Desktop are not showing anymore.
No pictures, no solid color, no theme color, just a black screen. Everything else (icons etc.) show
normal.
Not a big deal, but a black background is less cheerful .... :D

All Classic Shell does is add a Start Menu to the taskbar and Explorer plugins. Doesn't affect the desktop in any way. Doesn't the wallpaper applied from Personalization Control Panel persist? Try applying a theme or wallpaper again or restart Windows. It doesn't seem to be related to Classic Shell. If it still happens, try uninstalling Classic Shell. If even after uninstalling it the problem persists, it means it's unrelated.
