hi guys, firstly....great piece of software. can't knock it, just what I need. Got a problem with classic start menu button. Running windows 7 sp1 installed 4.0.0 click on menu settings, comes up no problem, view or change items all ok. close it click on in again...........doesn't come on again. close start menu (right click over start button select exit) restart classic menu settings, menu comes up no problem. It won't stay on for more than one viewing of the menu. It did work fine, until I changed ALL PROG skin and selected from 'none' to 'windows Aero' now it only displays once and requires restarting menu setting s for it to work. I expect that changing the prog skin probably had nothing to do with the problem, but it might be significant. willing to help, just ask and I'll try anything

What exactly happens when you say "doesn't come on again"? Does the Windows 7 Start Menu (let's call it WSM) show when you click the button? Or nothing happens after left click? Also, is it the case that the settings don't open again after opening once or is it the menu which doesn't open again after opening once? In Settings, you can check on the Controls tab what Left click is assigned to open. Also, the "All Programs skin" means the skin which is used when the Classic Start Menu (CSM) hooks into Windows 7 Start Menu (WSM's) All Programs item. The correct setting to change the skin for the Classic Start Menu itself is on its Skin tab.

Its the menu settings pop up I'm referring to it doesn't pop up again. You have to restart the classic start program to 'reset' the situation. Each time its restarted the 'menu settings' pop up works each time but it only comes on once now. re clicking on it, you see a momentary spinning disc...but nothing happens....no pop up menu setting. the WSM shows each time, classic explorer settings menu pops up each time but the menu settings one doesn't any help?

Oh ok so the settings window can't be opened more than once. Now kindly tell me how are you opening the settings? By right clicking on the Start button or from the Start menu -> All Programs -> Classic Shell -> Classic Start menu settings. Also from a command prompt or the Windows Run dialog, does this command work? after the menu is loaded: "C:\Program Files\Classic Shell\ClassicStartMenu.exe" -settings Can it be that your anti-malware is blocking ClassicStartMenu.exe? If your AV software has got a section for white listing processes, try including C:\Program Files\Classic Shell\ClassicStartMenu.exe and C:\Windows\Explorer.exe there.

from the Start menu -> All Programs -> Classic Shell -> Classic Start menu settings -not working more than once though! Also tried directly form program files folder.- no change in problemOk AVG on or disabled = no effect to problem. I added ClassMenu exe to avg exceptions- no effect either. classic menu has full access within my zonealarm settings - ZA on or Off no effect on problem. restarted PC each time. command prompt method works but won't work a second time (exit program then restart) works once, but not more than once. still scratching my head!!

RESOLVED I 've solved the problem by elimination Of course we've all got lots of programs running and one of mine was causing the issue. I'm running a legite copy of windows Actual title Buttons v5.4 (I never upgraded it) it works fine with 7. BUT some pop up windows it doesn't work with and it has to be disabled with the menu settings pop up Oddly though the Classic Explorer Menu pop up works fine with! Within Actual title buttons I've added the Classic Menu settings pop up to the exceptions (so the title buttons doesn't work with this pop up and it all works fine now. This may help someone with a similar situation, so I've marked it as solved. Hope this helps NE0
