Just downloaded & installed Classic Shell (Windows 7 style). However, I can not get Control Panel to display in Category View, even after I went into Settings and checked the box to use categories for Control Panel. On Windows 8 Pro 64-bit. |

The setting controls how the Control Panel will show up in Explorer if you double-click the menu item. It does not change the look of the Control Panel sub-menu. |

Inside the menu, the Control Panel always shows as a single or multi-column list. If you double click the Control Panel item when it's shown as a menu, it will open it in Category view when the option is set. Does it not open in Explorer with the category view? |

It does - but why have a sub-menu for Control Panel on the Windows 7 style Start Menu at all? Just have the user double click on Control Panel in the Start Menu and let it come up however the user has configured it, just as you have it configured in the Classic style with 2-columns. (And in your screenshot of Windows 7 style on Start Menu Style tab.) |

Because it is convenient to access the contents of the control panel as a menu. If you don't want that then change it from "Display as a menu" to "Display as a link" in the Customize Start Menu tab in the settings. |
