I updated to the new Classic Shell version 4.2.3 recently and now opening the apps menu causes explorer to close and automatically restart.

I didn't have the problem before in previous versions of Classic Shell or Windows 10.

I currently don't have any other problems to report besides this.

I have attached a dump file as you requested... it's almost 9mb.
I trust you guys will do your best and be careful... opening the "apps" menu in Classic Shell was fine in the previous version.
I can't put the blame on Windows 10 this time because this started after updating Classic Shell.

I see the problem. Something must have changed very recently in Windows 10, because this worked few days ago.
I will look for a fix in the next few days.

Thank you very much, I appreciate it.
There have been a lot of updates released on Windows Update for Windows 10 in the past week... maybe it's related.

Can you please list the file names in this folder? C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.ZuneVideo_3.6.11821.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\Assets
A screenshot of Explorer in Details mode would probably be enough.

List mode seems to show them all well enough... was mostly PNG image files in there.

OK. Try the attached file.
You need to exit the start menu (right-click on the start button, then Exit)
Put the ClassicStartMenuDLL.dll file from the zip into the C:\Program Files\Classic Shell folder
Run ClassicStartMenu.exe
Let me know if this works for you.

Note that this patch is only if you are using 64-bit Windows and only for Classic Shell 4.2.3. The fix will be included in the next release.

Indeed, we're fixed! :D Thanks for the fast support. :)

Hmm, I have all Metro apps uninstalled except the ones that can't be removed so I was not experiencing the crash.

I got that crashing problem later, as well. Ms must have done something.
Could not replace the fix, at first.
I had to rename the original .dll to ClassicStartMenuDLL.olddll

Thank you Ivo.

For me the explorer was not restarting right. It was like a not responding program.
Restarting the PC was the only solution.

But with that fix we are all happy again. =D

Yes! That .dll file makes all the difference! Need to replace the one in the downloaded 4.2.3 version!
