If I want W10 to look like 8, is a theme enough?

Post subject:  If I want W10 to look like 8, is a theme enough?

Hi!

I was wondering. Whether it's worth enough seeking for a theme or trying to make the theme files from Windows 8/8.1 work on 10.

I found a win 8 theme for 10 on deviantart, however based on the screenshots it doesn't reflect the appearance I'm used to (and prefer) on 8:
  • Titlebar text is on the left not in the middle.
  • Taskbar is almost completely forsted/opaline, instead of being largely transparent
  • The chosen color of the theme doesn't reflect the wallpaper well, and is ugly. The win 8 theme calculated a pleasant colors for my various wallpapers that change automatically.

So, I what I want to know is, do I need an app like classic shell that modifies the OS more deeply to get the windows 8 look or do I only need to look for a good theme?

If I do, does one exist already?

Otherwise what can I do to get the win 8 look?

1. a theme alone is unlikely to get you the exact look; even if you were to use the one directly from windows 8. there are alot of things defined outside of a theme that would likely need tweaked in the registry
2. classic shell can help with the taskbar, and most of what the start menu on 8 had. however I think there may be better options to bring the actual windows 8 start menu to 10 (if thats what your lookin fer)
It should also be noted that classic shell doesnt actually "modifies the OS more deeply" and its actually riskier to install a custom theme; as this can potentially lock your computer from starting up if the theme is faulty (ive had this issue personally; and was able to fix it via safe-mode/throwing the original theme back on)
The worst that will likely happen with classic shell is; a temporary lack of a start menu if something bugs out (which is unlikely, but can be remedied via alt+ctrl+delete and ending the classic shell process in task manager

Thanks for the reply. What do you think of as helping with the taskbar?

(I'm not lookin for the 8 start menu, I used CSM all along on 8.)

you can basically pick your own image or color, and transparency on the taskbar tab via classic shell
Its entirely cosmetic changes tho

It helps a bit when I set transparency. But the taskbar buttons suck. Win 8 buttons had a border and some semi-transparent overlay, which made them readable in all circumstances.
