Last week I updated to Windows 10 Pro "creator edition" (which I think of as the "destoyer" edition for MS removing things like "Advanced Display Properties").

I placed the Windows Task Bar (and Classic Start Menu) on the right edge of the screen as I always do.

Then I began changing the "Custom Scaling" and applied one or two .REG files for the settings ripped out of Windows by MS.

At one point I began seeing an outline of the taskbar flashing rapidly; CPU % went to 40-45% and I couldn't easily get control of the Task Bar.

Eventually I was able to stop Classic Start Menu (which didn't cause the issue).

To resolve the issue I switched to 100% scaling and moved the Task Bar to the bottom edge. And rebooted.

Once the Windows 10 Pro Task Bar loop stopped I moved the Task Bar back to the right edge, re-enabled Classic Start Menu and re-set my scaling factor.

So far, so good, but for 30 minutes, when Windows 10 Pro was in a tight loop, it was hell!

For the removed text size options, I recommend you to check out the freeware, Winaero Tweaker. Be careful with tweaking the sizes though. Better make a backup of your Registry by creating a System Restore point first.

Depending on the system DPI, the window metrics registry settings sometimes have no effect. You must tweak them after your system DPI setting is final and then export the registry key at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics to backup them.
